Songs of inner-strength
backed with riffage that hug hairpin turns and a dynamite-triggering
rhythm section. Full Blown Chaos is a roaring sonic blitzkrieg
with more to offer than the tired tough guy mentality!
2004 finds the quartet dishing out their blend of bone
cracking hardcore with puncturing metal on their first
full-length album titled Wake The Demons. The experience
is a bona fide thrill ride of chest pounding yet gripping
sing-along screams from front man and lyricist Ray Mazzola
along with the persuasive guitar megalomania of Mike Facci
coupled with grenade popping drums of brother Jeff Facci;
and finally, the crushingly infernal mix on Wake The Demons
is crowned by the determined and vivacious bass performance
of Ed Conroy.
Full Blown Chaos is the strong contender for glory in
today’s extreme music scene. With two EPs under
their belts, the self-titled DIY 2001 EP--- later released
on Jailhouse Records (bassist Ed Conroy’s label).
Then, in 2003 Jailhouse Records along with Stillborn Records
(headed by The –P Diddy of Metal - Hatebreed front
man and MTV2 Headbanger’s Ball host, Jamey Jasta
adopted the New York-based band for the rake-you-over-the-
coals forceful Prophet Of Hostility release.
FBC vocalist Ray Mazzola’s influences include metal
icons Philip Anselmo and Max Cavalera whose inspiration
propelled the serendipitous circumstances under which
FBC first kicked off their career.
“We all knew each for a long time, a couple of years
ago my old band and Full Blown were sharing a rehearsal
studio, eventually we did a switch of vocalists and I
joined Full Blown because I was as serious as they were.
In fact, serious is an understatement! Full Blown Chaos
raises the bar as far as most bands go in the realm of
touring. This year alone performing over 200 shows with
bands like Superjoint Ritual, Sepultura, Chimaira, God
Forbid and even landing a few dates on The Jagermeister
Tour with Slipknot and Fear Factory. Ray explains, “We
have very good breeding musically, I was big into hardcore,
big into metal, and that goes for the entire band.”
Wake The Demons is a testament to Full Blown’s prowess
for brazen hard-core breakdowns and walls of cringing
metal with Slayer-like speed and agility. Bassist Ed Conroy
furthers, “Whether we go out with hardcore bands
like Agnostic Front or metal bands like Six Feet Under
when we play our set the crowds, though diverse, give
the same reaction. Needless to say, that is what celebrated
producer Zeuss has harnessed on Wake The Demons; that
sense of versatility underlined with a guttural, in-your-face
execution. “The whole direction of the band is to
keep a wide range of music, not to necessarily pigeonhole
ourselves into metal or hardcore. Versatility is key;
I grew up on Sick Of It All, Gorilla Biscuits and War
Zone. Then I got into Machine Head and Pantera”
states a band representative.
As a lyricist, Ray matches the musical intensity with
fire-starting integrity and describes it as, “Very
aggressive, for instance, we have a song called ‘Unlearn,’
it’s about not having to conform to please other
people. Make up your own mind, you don’t have to
be part of a group to be accepted, I am for unity, but
you can be an individual and still be accepted,”
he sums.
